Grocery Smarts FAQs

What is a Grocery Smarts class? It’s a free class held at your home or other location.  I teach you basic couponing techniques and how to use the Grocery Smarts website, which is also free, to help save you time and money.  The class typically lasts about an hour.

What do I get for holding a class? First of all, there is a minimum requirement of 8 in attendance, who have not previously attended a class.  You will get a $20 grocery gift card.  When you get even more in attendance, you will get other additional bonuses.  These vary from time to time but include advanced couponing tips and additional gift cards.  Plus, your friends will be super thankful and think you’re super cool for sharing with them how to save lots of money.

What exactly is Grocery Smarts? Grocery Smarts is a free website service that matches local ads with coupons found in your newspaper and mail inserts as well as online coupons.  The list is updated weekly (Wed for grocery stores, Sunday for drugstores).  There is a fabulous ’5 star’ ratings system that also lets you know what the good deals are and when to really stock up.

How much time do you spend clipping coupons?  Honestly, hardly any time at all.  I spend a total of 15 minutes making my list and clipping coupons.  I’ll show you the ’5 minute method’ for organizing your coupons and only clipping what you need when you need it.

What’s the catch? The site is free.  The class is free.  What’s the catch?  Well, I get paid based on the number of subscriptions I turn in to the Review Journal.  It’s beneficial to us both since, as a Grocery Smarts instructor, I get to offer the paper to you at a super-discounted rate.  That’s right…The Grocery Smarts big shots figured it was a natural thing for couponers to need the paper, so they were able to strike up a deal that allows us instructors to get paid for helping you out, allows the consumers to save money on their subscriptions, and allows the website to stay free.  Yay!

Is Grocery Smarts in other states as well?  You betcha.  You can find Grocery Smarts in Utah, Southern California, Idaho, eastern Washington, and now Arizona.    For other states, I suggest checking out pinchingyourpennies.com for state-by-state forums on sales and applying the Grocery Smarts principles to create your own lists.

How do I get in contact with you to order papers, book a class, or ask questions? Frankly, the best way is via email.  Since I’m a mom, and a mom first, I am not always available to talk (well, without interruption) during the day and tend to remember to return calls after the kids are in bed.  I will still make every effort to call back or to answer a call but the most surefire way is email.  You can email me at {halabilly@gmail.com} or you can call me at 629-2713.
