help the schools while helping yourself.

IMG_1277I love Box Tops.  Really.  The other thing I love?  Buying Box Tops items at dirt cheap prices.  Grocery Smarts makes that possible.  See my pile of Box Tops there?  Those are ones I’ve accumulated since the start of summer and was planning to turn in to my kids’ school today.  Each school does it differently.  I asked at our last PTA meeting.  The teachers at our school have elected to have a single general fund rather than individual contests by room etc.  Schools get 10 cents for each Box Top you turn in.  They are found on everything from juice to yogurt to cereals to pantiliners.  Yep.  Do you have an elementary-schooler?  Register on www.boxtops4education.com and add your child’s school to your profile.  You can see what goals the school has set and where their current earnings are.  You can also shop through the site to earn more box tops for the school.  If you don’t have a child in school, please save them nonetheless and turn them in to your neighborhood school or I’ll happily turn them in to ours.  These days the schools need all the extra help they can get with funding.  So 2 questions for you…

Have you seen this week’s Albertson’s ad?!  It is full of opportunities for Box Tops items at dirt cheap prices.

Can you guess how many Box Tops are in my pile there?  (and therefore how much money I will be contributing to my child’s school)  I’m so excited.  It’s items we already use anyway.  I have more in my pantry too and will be stocking up even more this week.  It makes me feel great to know that I can contribute in some way without it affecting my wallet, because I’m getting stuff I’d be using anyway and I’m paying so little for it!

Winner gets a prize!!!!  $10 grocery gift card- which will be enough to get you lots of good stuff this week!   (Contest will end Friday night at 10 pm PST)- Leave a comment with your guess

Bonus Contest:  First person to shop this sale and email me a picture of their trip and savings breakdown for use on here (see previous examples) will also get a $10 gift card!!!  There are a lot of printable coupons so hop to it!

  4. K so I am so excited I just had to brag! We just came home from shopping at Albertsons and Smiths and my husband was so excited because of all the money we saved. Our Albertsons trip cost us $80.81 and we saved a total of $99, plus we got coupons for $28 on our next trip. Then we went to Smiths and spent $58.80 and saved a total of $40.93. We were both so thrilled. I can take a picture of the receipts or make a list of everything we bought if you want, but since I already put it all away since a lot of it was fridge stuff I would rather not take a picture of the stuff itself. I just wanted to win the $10 giftcard. Thank you grocerysmarts!

  5. Rachel- That’s fantastic!!!! Do you happen to know if you spent $25 before or after coupons to get the $10 coupon to print out? There have been some debates on this and I didn’t get to the store today like I planned.
GREAT JOB for your first time especially! Send me a pic of the receipts and just a breakdown of the different totals (coupons, saved, spent, total value, preferred card or fresh values).
